Highlighter Obsession

I think my obsession with highlighter stems from my childhood obsession with glitter.

SO MUCH GLITTER!

Now that I am technically classified as an adult, glitter is not acceptable to wear, EVER. No questions asked. My only caveat would be Halloween, and even then it can be questionable.

Thank goodness, someone, somewhere in makeup land stepped up their game and introduced “highlighters” AKA grown up glitter. (INSERT MY EXTREME EXCITEMENT)!!!!

About a year ago, my best friend Lauren showed me this trick to make me look fleek AF.  She brushed a small amount of this powder on the highest point of my cheekbones, and viola, INSTANT GLAM.

I went back home, amazed by this new technique I learned, stomped my way into Sephora, and bought my first compact of The Becca Highlighter in Champagne Pop. Being the makeup rookie, I am and not understanding the sentiment “a little goes a long way” I proceeded to wear this fad like it was going out of style. Oops! I just loved it so much and couldn’t contain myself when dipping my brush into this tiny compact of grown up glitter. My inner tween came out, and before I knew it, I was starting to look like the girl pictured above.

I think it was the Big Guy Upstairs, working his magic when I dropped my compact on the bathroom floor. Like, come on! I seriously shed a few tears as I scraped what I could. He knew that I needed to chill on the highlight because I was looking scary.

After a few months had passed without using my favorite highlighter and settling for some cheap, knockoff crap, I decided to Google how to fix broken makeup. VIEW THIS POST to get my step-by-step instructions on how to resolve this dilemma.

Anyways, I can happily say that my highlighter is intact, I am back to looking glam, and I have toned it down.

If you don’t use a highlighter right now, you should. Do yourself a favor and buy some. Below is a list of my recommendations, both drugstore and high end.
