My fitness journey started pretty much the day I could crawl. I have always been an active person and each chapter of my life has presented itself with different opportunities to move my body in new ways. I have been a gymnast, sprinter, long distance runner, cheerleader, group fitness fanatic, body builder, Crossfitter, casual hiker, faithful pilates practitioner, and even a yogi!

As you can see, I have done a little bit of everything. As I change and evolve, my fitness routines do too and what I want to make clear is that is okay and all forms of fitness are capable of transforming your body.

More recently, I have started to change my mind about THE BEST way to exercise.What I have realized is that even on my own journey, the workout routines I have followed the longest and seen the most transformation in are the ones I LOVED! When you love what you are doing you are going to 1) perform the activity better and 2)continue to do it longer!

I encourage everyone who reads this and may be feeling discouraged to try something new! If you hate going to a conventional gym, stop going! Try a group fitness studio – there are hundreds of different niche classes out there. Groupon is a great resource to help you find some new classes in your town and try them for a very small cost! A lot of places will even offer the first class for free, you just have to call and ask. You are wasting your time and money if you are trying to pigeonhole yourself into what you think you should be doing instead of what you actually like to do. And if you don’t know what you like yet, start experimenting.

  4. Pure Barre – inspired by ballerinas. Don’t be fooled though, this is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken.

Physical activity shouldn’t always feel like a chore. For me, being active is part of my routine just like brushing my teeth. Sure there are times when I am tired and achy or too busy to workout, but most days my body craves movement after sitting at my desk all day so it is a reward to be able to get to the gym and workout.

I promise that once you find your groove, continue to challenge yourself, and fuel your body with appropriate food, you will see results!
